The international music festival Laima Rendezvous Jūrmala will take place from 24 to 26 July at the Dzintari Concert Hall in Jūrmala. The festival organisers are delighted to announce that the programme for Saturday, 25 July, will for the first time feature one of the most compelling voices in contemporary pop music – Monetochka.
The artist, whose real name is Elizaveta Gyrdymova, has become a symbol of courage and artistic freedom. Her work is defined by lyrically precise songwriting, a refined stage aesthetic, elegant wit and an ability to transcend both geographical and linguistic boundaries. Since February 2022, when she immediately left Russia and took an unequivocal public stand against the war in Ukraine, her voice has acquired a new dimension – one that is at once political and deeply human. Together with rapper Noize MC, Monetochka has raised over 400,000 euros for Ukrainian refugees through a series of charity tours across Europe.
This year’s performance at Dzintari will be exceptional: Monetochka will take the stage accompanied by the Laima Rendezvous festival orchestra -a format in which she is rarely heard. The orchestral setting will lend her most celebrated compositions a new sonic richness and emotional depth, creating an experience that is only possible in live performance.
